      I have a 2014 BMW X1 Xdrive28i with M sport package. been very happy with this machine. Very responsive engine, even being twin turbo with all wheel drive, it returns impressive fuel economy numbers. I do maybe 34 to 36mpg highway if I keep it at a modest 70mph. In town it can eat up a little fuel but I still achieve 22 to 23mpg city. Overall handling is good, turn radius is questionable in certain situations but it remains a very well composed machine. No leaks, no interior problems. I've maintained the leather regularly, very comfortable seating but this car seems to be more accommodating to front passengers more than rear. Very easy to get in and out of the vehicle. Acceleration is great. I wish the car had a temperature gauge. All features are within reach and easy to use once you learn everything. Not sure why the Germans call this a SUV. It's more of a beefed up wagon to me, which is not a bad thing.…

      Great small SUV. It has lots of power and steers and handles like a sports car. Good mileage 24 in town 30-33 on highway. I am 6-2 tall and there is plenty of driver room for me. Turbo engine has great acceleration! Have 56,000 miles on vehicle with no repairs and still has original brakes. Nice standard stereo with eight speakers and Bluetooth. Winter package with comfort heated seats and steering wheel. Replaced run-flat tires with a better quality non-run-flat set for a more comfortable ride. No key entry and starting is also very convenient. Handles great in snow with all wheel drive and also has a four wheel lock when stuck in deep snow just to get going. It does not lock for on the road driving. A little small inside but FUN car to drive!!!!…

      I bought my 2014 X1 Xdrive 28i brand new back in August of 2013. In the past 7 years I've driven it over 86,000 miles, and in that time it has been a fun and for the most part reliable car. I've taken care of the car over the years and I haven't had any major issues. Some minor issues did pop up over the past 3 years once I went over 50K miles. During that time I had to to replace the vanos unit, engine thermostat, and valve cover and gasket. The repairs were covered under my extended warranty, but the cost of parts and repairs from the dealership would have been cheaper than the $4000 I spent on the extended warranty. It's definitely not a cheap car to maintain. If you don't plan to change the oil yourself, look forward to spending close to $100 to have it done. Wear and tear items are pricey. Replacing my rear brakes and rotors cost close to $500, and replacing my tierods cost over $1000. The OEM tires are $250 per tire. Also don't forget the premium gas needed for the car. The highlight of the car is the old school BMW hydraulic steering. The steering is perfectly weighted and accurate. In combination with the peppy engine and the fast shifting 8 speed automatic transmission, the X1 is a blast on a twisty back road. It has the driving characteristic of an E90 3 series, except with more body roll on the corners. You'll be surprised how much you can push this car. It has great traction and can take turns at higher speeds than most SUVs. The inline 4 turbo engine in the Xdrive28i will be strong enough for most people and you won't have any trouble passing other cars on the highway. Only issue I have with it is that it sounds like a diesel engine while at idle. The interior space is comfortable for the 2 people up front. Rear passenger leg room is similar to a 3 series and can be cramp for taller people. There is plenty of head and shoulder room for the rear passengers though. I found the cargo space to be more than enough. With the rear seats down you can fit a standard sized office desk with no problem. A young family won't have a problem fitting a couple of strollers in the cargo area with the seats up. I highly recommend the E84 X1. It's good compromise for someone who would likes driving a sport sedan, but also needs the practicality and utility of an SUV. Just keep in mind that the maintenance and upkeep is expensive compared to a Subaru Outback from the same year, but the driving feel and fun the car has to offer is worth it.…
